​A small sample of your blood is drawn and processed in various ways to concentrate platelets, fibrin, and bioactive growth factors. When reintroduced to targeted areas, these components stimulate collagen and elastin production to improve skin density, texture, and hydration. It also stimulates new blood vessel formation, and cellular repair, helping your skin rebuild itself from within. It is all natural, meaning there can never be an allergic reaction.

 

At TRUE Aesthetic Clinic, we offer all types of preparations including PRP, PRF and PRG/Bio-gel, depending on indication; and often times, we use 2 or 3 different preps at the same time, to maximally derive all benefits.

PRP - (Platelet-Rich Plasma): The original liquid concentrate, ideal for boosting skin quality and stimulating hair follicles, providing a rapid burst of growth factors over minutes to hours. (Immediate release). Skin effect are seen at 2-6 weeks and peak at 1-3 months, maintenance treatments are every 4-6 months. Generally 1-6 sessions recommended 1 month apart for a full treatment. Commonly used with microneedling for acne scars, or subcision for acne scars,  hair restoration, skin tone/texture, acute skin concerns.

PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin): A second-generation, additive-free concentrate that releases growth factors more slowly for longer-lasting regenerative, effects over 10-14 days, the higher leukocyte count can also enhance wound healing. (Sustained release). Skin effects are seen at 2-6 weeks with sustained and durable results 3 months later. Generally 1-3 sessions recommended 1 month apart for a full treatment, maintenance sessions are every 6-12 months. Commonly used for skin texture/tone, fine lines, wrinkles, undereye sallownes. 

 

PRG/BioGel: A 100% autologous gel made from your own albumin and growth factors, delivered as a growth factor rich semi-solid gel that allows for prolonged release, often weeks to months. It is often used as a natural bio-stimulatory filler to smooth, rejuvenate and minimally, temporarily, volumize. Generally 1-3 sessions recommended, with visible improvements in a few weeks to sustained improvement over weeks to months when collagen remodelling occurs. Commonly used for all indications as PRF, allowing for longer duration of effect.

A small blood sample is drawn, similar to a routine lab test
 

Blood is processed in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich plasma, platelet rich fibrin.

If needed, the platelet rich product is put through a heating and cooling process to create platelet rich gel or BioGel. 

During Treatment

Injections take about 30–45 minutes, and are done with needle subdermally or with cannula, depending on the target treatment. 

 

PRG appointments are usually a little longer due to the heating and cooling process to create the product.

Is PRP/PRF or PRG safe?

PRP PRF and EZ Gel are made entirely from your own blood, so there's no risk of an allergic reaction to a foreign substance. There is still a risk of vascular occlusion, just like dermal filler. Many clinics may erroneously believe that this is not possible thus not carry the recommended antidotes or emergency protocols. At TRUE Aesthetic Clinic we are equipped with medications that can dissolve blood clots if necessary should the need arise. As with any injectable treatment, proper technique and patient selection are essential for safety, which is why every treatment at TRUE Aesthetic Clinic is performed by board-certified Nurse Practitioners.

Most patients see the best results across a small series of sessions, typically 3 sessions spaced several weeks apart, though this depends on your goals and where you're starting from. We'll build a personalized plan during your consultation.
